Yasushi Matsui ¥@$ 101

Yasushi Matsui was born in the US, grew up in Japan, and has been residing in Humboldt county since 2021. He lives to draw and paint. He has been honing his skills in drawing and painting over the past two decades through live painting at events and festivals, murals, commissioned illustrations, and collaborating with a variety of artists and fashion brands.

His illustration was featured as the Reggae on the River Festival Poster Art in 2011, and he had been driving from the San Francisco Bay Area every year to paint at the festival. He has established a connection to the nature of Northern California and the local Art Community through countless visits and explorations. He was invited to paint and showcase his work at the Summer Art and Music Festival in 2017. His debut solo gallery exhibition “SKRAPS” was on display at Anno Domini Gallery in San Jose in February 2021. During the Pandemic, he relocated from the city to Humboldt County.

The Epitome Gallery proudly presents Yasushi Matsui’s first exhibition in Humboldt County, “¥@$ 101”. The title Yen at Dollar 101 is a reference to US Highway 101, which led him to the nature and culture of Northern California.

Yasushi Matsui’s ¥@$ 101 will be on dipsplay for the month of March
