Mike Kershnar: Beside The Sacred Eel

Mike Kershnar’s art seeks to act as a sign post pointing towards the natural world and the Great Mystery beyond it. Focusing on North American wildlife and global spirituality his work is both rooted in the land and seeks insiration by ancient sacred works one can see hints of Egyptian, Coptic, Huichol, Australian Aboriginal, and Northern Formline, Synthesized with modern graffiti and comic book sensibility. Kershnar has deep roots in the world of skateboarding and music and has collaborated with seminal brands and bands such as Thrasher, Anti-Hero, Independent, The Beastie Boys, Midnite, Phil Lesh, and Morrissey. This June, The Epitome Gallery is proud to present “Beside The Sacred Eel” featuring Kershnar’s latest paintings, drawings, film photography, and multi media pieces created specifically for Humboldt County.
